Georges Bergès Gallery Presents the First-Ever Hunter S. Thompson Exhibition — A Once-in-a-Lifetime Show Launching the Inaugural Gonzo Festival

NEW YORK, NY — July 2026 — Georges Bergès Gallery is proud to present the first-ever gallery exhibition devoted to the life and legacy of Hunter S. Thompson, opening July 16, 2026, at 462 West Broadway in SoHo. A once-in-a-lifetime cultural event more than half a century in the making, the exhibition also marks the launch of the inaugural Gonzo Festival — a citywide celebration of Thompson’s enduring influence on American letters, journalism, and art.

Visitors will encounter an unprecedented collection of Thompson’s personal effects — including the original typewriter on which he hammered out the works that changed journalism forever — alongside Hunter-related art by Ralph Steadman and others, GonzoFest (https://gonzofest.net/) rare artifacts, and ephemera drawn from the writer’s extraordinary life.

The exhibition anchors a festival focused on Thompson’s political writing, with daytime programming including panels, keynote presentations, poetry readings, films, and music, GonzoFest (https://gonzofest.net/) as well as a walking tour through Hunter’s Greenwich Village — where he took classes at Columbia University, worked at Time magazine, and wrote his first novel.
